How are wooden steering wheels made?

Wooden steering wheel

Wooden steering wheel

Have you ever thought (even a little bit) about car interiors, how are they designed, and how are particular aspects of the interior crafted?

ALYTUS, LITHUANIA, September 30, 2020 / — Have you ever thought (even a little bit) about car interiors, how are they designed, and how are particular aspects of the interior crafted? If so, you should’ve likely stopped and thought about steering wheels in particular. Nowadays, the steering wheel is the main control panel of the vehicle. Besides being just the driving tool, the modern-day steering wheel is full of buttons, screens even and various knobs that help control pretty much every aspect of the vehicle. However, let’s look at a more classy and elegant option – a wooden steering wheel for car and see how it is made! It doesn't matter for what kind of car do you need a wooden steering wheel, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus wooden steering wheel or other — these are the steps how steering wheels are made.

The initial phases

It all begins with the production or the selection of a right metal frame. It is sort of the core or the base element of every steering wheel, whether it be wooden, plastic, vinyl or made from anything else. Wood is just the decorative, surface element. You can either order a steering wheel metal carcass or take one from an old steering wheel by exposing it. So, if we are talking about the manufacture of wooden steering wheels, the producer takes a custom-made metal carcass and begins working on it.

Then manufacturers take a large wooden panel and cut out a circle with the exact same measurements as the steering wheel. The outer diameter is cut with the inclusion for additional elements like spokes or anything else.

Process and finishing touches

After the circle (outer and others) are cut, manufacturers move on to applying ornaments, details and accents. In this phase, the steering wheel is shaped, smoothened out (by sanding) and other similar tasks are completed. Usually, wooden wheels are aimed at retro cars and rarely come with any electrical outlets, especially in the outer parts of the wooden rim.

Now that the metal rim and the wooden finish are both ready to go, the manufacturer clamps them together. After attaching, they are glued together and become almost inseparable. After a while of cooling off, the extremely-sturdy and strong steering wheel carcass can be labelled as ‘produced’.

The final phase consists of decoration and artistic finishing touches. Everything in this phase depends on the choices a customer or the factory decides to make. Possibilities are almost limitless, and thus customers are in constant demand for high-quality wooden steering wheels with unique, personalised trim.

The best pros in the business

Making a wooden steering wheel by yourself is possible, but it is definitely not advisable. Aesthetics and practicality will never come close to the works of professionals, and safety can become a huge concern. Besides, high-level professionals can make even your wildest fantasies come true. They are not limited by a lack of experience, low-grade tools or a shortage of crafting materials.

If you want a high-grade, top of the range custom made steering wheel from wood; you should definitely check out custom steering wheel manufacturers They are one of the most experienced and reputable names in the business with satisfied customers from all over the world. As a family business, they have the know-how of woodworking that spans generations and can help anyone boost individuality and excitement of everyday driving. All thanks to a custom wooden steering wheel!

"The reason we have endorsed the lawyers at the law firm of Karst von Oiste-KVO is because they have been assisting Navy Veterans and people with asbestos exposure lung cancer and mesothelioma for decades, and they are responsible for over a billion dollars in financial compensation for people like this. Properties of an excellent wooden steering wheel

Wooden steering wheel

Wooden steering wheel

ALYTUS, LITHUANIA, September 30, 2020 / — If you enjoy driving or if you want to become a better driver, you probably know that handling is the most crucial aspect of driving. And proper driving experiences are heavily tied to steering response and in turn, the quality of a steering wheel. How comfortable, how fast or how good you drive cannot be separated from how good your steering wheel is. Formula 1 drivers are considered the best in the world, and their steering wheels alone cost more than fifty thousand dollars. So, it is about time to find out what makes a good steering wheel!

First and foremost, you have to know that every driver is different, and everyone has a unique driving style. The tools and devices inside the car must fit the driver so he or she can do the absolute best when driving. The steering wheel has to be pleasant to touch, of a nice circumference, width, size and made from materials that will not slip from your hand. This is why manufacturers usually offer different steering wheel types in their model range.

This is also why service providers like have massive success. They know that many car owners are not satisfied with their steering wheel put in by the manufacturer, and can make a custom one for anyone. They can make your dream steering wheel or customise a classic unit to better suit your needs.

A good steering wheel must be functional. That is especially vital when you consider driving performance and driving comfort. BMW M car steering wheels have the famous ‘M’ buttons which are like shortcuts to a desired, pre-configured driving mode. A press of a single button can change the entire experience of driving a car in an instant.

Furthermore, you can have paddle shifters for quicker gear changes, driving mode adjustment knobs and other performance-related options on a great steering wheel.

On the other hand, if you are seeking comfort, a steering wheel should offer buttons for adjusting and configuring pretty much every other option in your menu or infotainment system. From things like volume and phone controls, all the way to satellite navigation, cruise control or any other function – all can and should be accessible thanks to a great steering wheel.

Technical aspects

The driver cannot change some things. Change them too much at least.

For the most part, a steering wheel is pre-calibrated and set up by the manufacturer when it leaves the car plant. It behaves a certain way and a certain amount of steering wheel turning results in a particular amount of car wheel turning. It is a really overly complicated way of saying that a steering wheel is only a part of a steering system inside the car. If the steering system is poorly maintained or just not built with your preferences in mind, the steering wheel is in any way the solely responsible component for lack or excess of steering directness.

For example, an F1 steering wheel can never help comfy limo drivers. In contrast, a large, single-spoke steering wheel of the 1950s land yachts will prevent a Lamborghini crossing the Nordschleife in under 10 minutes.

Aesthetics also matter. An excellent steering wheel will always be a looker. Of course, you have rare exceptions, but in the general sense, great steering wheels appeal to the eye as well. Seldom will you find an outstandingly agile, but poor-looking steering wheel or vice versa. It is, however, entirely subjective.

When buying a used car, people always tend to look at and analyse the state of the steering wheel. It is a primary indicator of the true wear&tear of the vehicle. So, if you want a good steering wheel, you should consider its durability because a scuffed, broken, poorly put together or in any other way lacklustre steering wheel will never bring any driving pleasure.

Car Dealership Profit Margins: 5 Secret Drains

Money down the drain

5 Secret Drains

Car dealership profit margins are a constant concern. Knowing which potential drains on profit to plug, can make or break dealership profitability numbers.

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2020 / — Car dealerships can’t exist if they are not profitable. What is unique about most automotive franchise dealers is that there are multiple profit sources feeding into the overall margin. Knowing which profit margin sources to focus on can make a big difference in overall car dealership profit margins.

Which profit margin source should get the most attention?

There are three sources of dealer profit. The new-vehicle department of a car dealership accounts for about 58% of a dealership’s total sales, but it contributes less than 26% of the dealer’s gross profit. The used-vehicle department represents 31% of total sales and similarly represents only 25% to gross profit. The majority of a dealer’s profit comes from the service and parts department, accounting for 49.6% of the dealer’s gross profit.

Therefore, the focus on car dealership profit margins should be in the service and parts area of the business. Knowing what the drains on profit are here and how to plug those drains, can have the biggest impact on dealership performance.

Plug these 5 Secret Drains to improve car dealership profit margins

1. Doing Work to Do Work

Consider how much time is spent logging into various systems just to manage communications with service customers. Customers expect real-time responses to their requests. They need Welcome, Status, Car Ready, Pay Here Texts to become satisfied returning customers. They expect you to back up those texts with email and phone calls too.

How many systems does a dealer need to accomplish this? How many tools does a Service Manager need to log into, monitor, and manage to get answers quickly and respond to customers? Too many systems and tools cause extra work that is required to get the basic work completed in a profitable manner.

If you could speed up this process and integrate all these tools, how many more ROs per day could a dealer process in a month… in a year?

2. Landline Land Mine

Do you know how many potential service customers find your landline number online and try to schedule an appointment for service via text? Many dealers don’t, because those customers get frustrated, lost, and possibly end up at an independent repair facility as a result.

There are 150m texts that go to landlines every day. They are all unanswered. At best the customer gets a failed text notice. At worse, their message disappears into the ether.

69% of customers prefer to start a conversation with a text today. 75% of customers won’t leave a voicemail. This means dealers need a way to capture texts to landlines. Every missed RO opportunity resulting from a text to your main phone landline is costing you $250 or more on average. That’s a pretty big drain to plug.

3. Emerging Demographics: Translation

U. S. demographics are diverse. 21.6% of people over the age of 5 in the U.S. speak a language other than English at home. Of those that do speak English, nearly 10% state that they speak English “less than very well”.

What does this mean? A sizable portion of your service customer base either prefers or must be communicated with, in a different language. Sure, you can get by on English, but customers will ultimately go to the place that makes them feel comfortable.

Plug the language drain with easily integrated translation tools that will ensure accurate communication, more trust, and repeat service customers that will drive up your profit margins.

4. “Time Is Money”

Great, you managed to set the appointment, service the vehicle on time, and keep the customer happy. But wait, you’re not done. Your accounting department needs to accrue the revenue. Time is money, and the longer it takes for the customer payment to get properly calculated, checked, and applied, the longer it takes for that revenue to impact your profit margins.

Does this comment sound familiar, “The Fixed Operations Director is reviewing it”? The controller’s time is valuable and expensive. Emails back and forth all evening to get revenue on the books properly is costing you. This is wasting a lot of time.

Plug the drain, save time with solutions that can automate the reconciliation process, and improve margins.

5. Power of the Lift & Loaner Cars

The car is up on the lift and the opportunity begins. If you can efficiently earn trust and explain what needs to be done, customers will approve the service. Waiting to hear from a customer, waiting for a customer to decide, even waiting for a customer with a loaner to return, keeps the car up on the lift longer, and delays revenue. This slows the number of ROs a dealer can perform each day. It is a drain on your margins.

Providing a complete Video MPI earns customer trust. They see what really needs to be done. When video is sent via text these metrics come into play:

90% of text messages are opened in 3 minutes with an average response time of 90 seconds. So you get a faster response and the car is off the lift faster.

Videos generate a 2.2X increase in CP work, so the approval rate goes up on those fast responses.

If a loaner car is involved, a text that the car is ready decreases Loaner car days by 23%. Saving money that goes toward your margins.

GrowFL Announces 2020 Florida Companies to Watch Finalists
All Florida Safety Institute Among Second-Stage Businesses
Competing to Earn Prestigious Honor

(PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL) All Florida Safety Institute was among the first round of the 2020 Florida Companies to Watch finalists recently announced by GrowFL. The awards event – now in its tenth year – honors impressive second-stage companies from throughout the state for developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and broadening new industries throughout Florida. The 2020 GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch awards celebration is brought to you by Nperspective CFO & Strategic Services, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation.

Together, the 2020 GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Finalists represent nearly 3,000 jobs and generate $670 million in revenue. These companies, all of which are “worth watching,” anticipate a growth of 13 percent in revenue and 23 percent in employment by the end of 2020.

“We are thrilled to be among the fastest growing companies in the state and look forward to finding out how we will rank among the other finalists. We have worked hard to build an organization that is helping save lives across Florida. We continue to grow our footprint with our upcoming launch of new offices in the Panhandle and are looking for even more office locations across the state.” Mark Allen, Executive Director.

The finalists were selected from more than 400 nominations and are now in the running to be named a 2020 GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Honoree. If selected as an honoree, these exemplary second-stage companies will join the 450 honorees that have been recognized since 2011.

“We applaud these first-round finalists who have proved themselves to be stand out companies in the state. They have and continue to demonstrate the resiliency and tenacity that comes along with being an entrepreneur. We know this year hasn’t been easy, so we’re excited to recognize our states admirable business owners and their teams. I have a feeling they’re just getting started,” says Dr. Tom O’Neal, GrowFL Founder.

The Finalists represent a unique group of scalable, high-growth enterprises that are already located within Florida. These high growth enterprises are an important segment of our economy and their numbers have been steadily increasing. According to the Kauffman Foundation, “entrepreneurship is not a monolithic phenomenon, and it includes many moving parts. Creating new businesses is a different economic activity from running small businesses, which in turn is different from growing businesses.” GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch recognizes the different approach needed to successfully grow and scale a business and celebrates those that are working to achieve this goal.

Companies to Watch was developed by the Edward Lowe Foundation as a unique way to recognize and honor second-stage companies that demonstrate high performance in the marketplace with innovative strategies and processes. In addition to evaluating past growth and projected success, applicant companies are judged according to their special strengths and impact in their markets, communities and within the state – thus deeming them “worth watching.”

The 2020 honorees will be recognized on November 12, 2020 at 6pm during a live broadcast from Orlando, Florida. For more information visit
